Team Tournament System
Hey everyone..

A few of you may recall me starting to develop a Team Tournament system a few months back. Im just letting you guys know that im re-starting this and its now my "next thing" on my list to do/finish.

After recent efforts by the Mods and Players, the Team section is certainly getting used alot more. With the recent additions to Teams, now seems like a good time to start developing a Tournament Management System. A few months ago when i first start this system, i wasnt confident that Teams were getting used enough.

Theres a few things i need peoples input on first though, if you could respond to each of these queries for me, thanks.

  1. This will only be a management system to help you organise team tournaments. im never going to be able to fully integrate a tournament system into the game. is this still wanted? or if you cannot have a full tounry system, is there much point in me doing a management system?
  2. The system will allow people to create tournaments, choose a host, choose the team line up, automatically decide the matches, allow you to enter the winners and it will record to overall winning team. is this good enough?
  3. The system is a tool to help you better organize and manage the tournaments, as right now you just post on the forums, write down the teams, write down the scores etc...im trying to help you manage it better and keep records of wins.. again, is this good enough?

Thats basically it to be honest... i really wanna give you guys the tools to create your own tournaments, organise them, record them, etc etc etc.

As said, im never going to be able to fully integrate an auto system into the game, so theres always going to be the need for people to "host" the matches and record the scores manually and input them into the system.

Id appreciate your opinions and suggestions.

If im going to do this system, i want a clear goal in my mind and i need to know this is what people want, and will use. If its not, then im not willing to waste my time.

RE: Team Tournament System
well i think that either there should be no tournament management system or there should be a highly sophisticated management system. a sophisticated system where tournaments will be planned 1 week prior to the competition and the teams can withdraw till 3 days prior to the competion. even the players participating should be named by the team leaders 1 week prior to the competion and then both the teams participating should also decide that who is going to play whom and that should also be notified 1 week prior to the tournament. after all this if some players or some team fails to compete on the day of tournament then the matches should automatically be reawarded to the other team.

as far as maintaining records is concerned , one of the mods should be appointed to take care of them and to post them wherever needed....

i know all this is not going to be easy but if it is done then it will definately add a lot of value to the competitions and the 8baller game as a whole.

RE: Team Tournament System
That's what I had planned.

Team leaders can choose and edit the players list. Before the tournament takes place.
The scores will be recorded by the host.

The problem with team leaders being able to manage their own tourneys by using a Tournament System is whether the team members will utitlize these tools. Some do, others cba and trust me, they will tell you to your face...well nickname. I wouldn't mind using it though, it would be a hell of a lot easier than forcing members to join the forums just to have a chat about an upcoming tourney.

The system will allow people to create tournaments, choose a host, choose the team line up, automatically decide the matches, allow you to enter the winners and it will record to overall winning team. is this good enough?

This is perfect. Will all the members of the team have access to this page?

The system is a tool to help you better organize and manage the tournaments, as right now you just post on the forums, write down the teams, write down the scores etc...im trying to help you manage it better and keep records of wins.. again, is this good enough?

Saves us the hassle of putting the scores on the forums, however, you will have your 1 or 2 slow individual who will probably insists on it being on the forums again.
But with this system, will EVERYONE be able to see the scores of the tourneys which were played?

RE: Team Tournament System
I would go for it.....People would love it, tournaments would occur more often, users will be inspired to either make their own team or join a team and not to mention that THIS could even bring more people registering on 8baller Smile sounds good to me Smile. think we need a tournament room?

RE: Team Tournament System
Can we not do TEam History......
Like IF any team Tourney then One MOD has to be there who will just update result on forum and later on it could be highlighted by admin on site.#

Dont know is it work on not...but its good suggestion to work on.

Thank you
