The whole 'Like' idea is a great one and should be put up there, you have my vote on that....but....

Would the forums just turn into a big 'Facebook' kind of thing? People just making silly threads with 1 sentence in them just to get likes? ...i think the 'Like' idea would be cool if it was kept to just liking somones thread and without them going over the top with it.

Yes why not? It won't hurt, no matter how many people liked a silly post, you are not going to see all users who have liked a specific thread unless you want to, just like on facebook. And who would want to like a silly post from the first place? lol

Domi, I am glad you are into web, but let us take our time and decide. Believe me, it's not just 2 minutes of time. You need to consider performance, compatibility, reliability and some more aspect of third-party piece of code before you install it into production system.

So, we will look into it.

I 2nd the above comments.

Installing an addon to forum software needs careful consideration.

Firstly, these forums are barely used. So I'm not over keen to add new features. It won't actually bring much of a benefit. If these forums were busier, the idea might work well.

I purely meant it as in...would people just make a thread and post a 1 liner there as you would with status's on facebook?, its just my opinion but the forum would be clogged up if people just made a thread to try and get there 'Status' liked....Forums would be full of useless stuff if that happened....dont get me wrong, i love the whole 'like' idea....just if it was implemented correctly that all and if it was used properly

No for sure mate, what I meant by saying (just like on facebook) is not what like you thought, if anyone made a thread and posted a 1 liner or so, then moderators should do their job immediately and delete this kind of threads, we have to distinguish between a forum and a social network website, my idea was just to take this specific feature from facebook, and apply it here without changing the way we use the forum.
